Eydon, in my opinion, must be one of the most picturesque villages in the county.
Eydon has a fantastic community spirit. Although it is one of Northamptonshire's smaller villages, there is plenty going on with a variety of local social clubs. The Royal Oak Restaurant is highly regarded locally, dating back to the 17th Century, it is well worth a visit.
There is a playing field in the village for the kids, with a football and cricket pitch for the older ones and the younger ones have a play area of their own.
If you fancy stretching your legs, you will have plenty of options. If you take a short walk out of Eydon and you could walk along the old Great Central Main Line – do not worry the line was closed in 1966. If that does not appeal to you, you have got plenty of footpaths to explore.
Eydon does not have a village store but is visited by a local meat and veg van during the week, there is a village milk delivery service also. The nearest village with amenities (Co-op, 2 butchers, hairdressers, post office, chemist, convenience store, shoe shop, take away (Chinese and Indian) and an Indian restaurant etc) in Woodford Halse.
This location makes an ideal base for anyone working in Banbury, Northampton, Daventry, or Milton Keynes. The journey to M40 Junction 11 at Banbury is approximately 16 minutes, from where travelling north to Coventry or Birmingham or South to Oxford or London is easily do-able. There is a main railway station in Banbury which is appropriately 20 minutes away.
